Over the years, we've developed a number of outstanding maternal lines.  We believe production, longevity and type come from strong cow families.

We've merchandized heavily from these cow families and feel our greatest accomplishment is when these individuals do well in the herds of other Jersey breeders.

It goes without saying that this is one of the most promising cow families we have ever worked with. "Sooner April" and her family are genetic marvels as they consistently transmit superior type, production and genetics. "Sooner April" has six milking daughters - two are appraised Very Good and four Excellent.

Daughter Senn-Sational Barber April is one of the breed's leading JPI cows. She was ranked on the list of the Top 200 JPI Cows for numerous genetic evaluations and currently is among the top 1 1/2% for the index.

Her son, Senn-Sational Paramount Ace, is ranked #53 for JPI with a JPI of +161 (April 2008) and a PTAT of +1.7. He is available for sampling through Genex/CRI.

Another son, Senn-Sational Hallmark Reflection, was sold for $30,825 at the 2004 All American Jersey Sale to a syndicate of 77 members and ABS Global.

"Sooner April's" son, Senn-Sational Sambo Aaron-ET, is siring top-performing daughters in our herd. Five of his young daughters are appraised Excellent and one is ranked on the Top 1 1/2% List for JPI for April 2008.

The matriarch of this family is Senn-Sational Harrison Bella.  She produced nine milking daughters in all - six are appraised Excellent and three are high Very Good.  We have many promising offspring from this cow family in the herd today.

 

The "Kool" Family

"Homestead Kool" was one of our 95-point cows.  She was a remarkable individual, as she combined production with fancy type and longevity.  She first calved at 2-0 and bred back consistently every year. In all, she made more than 150,000 pounds milk in her lifetime.

She has one Very Good and two Excellent daughters.  A granddaughter, Senn-Sational Sambo Kool, just finished her third lactation with more than 17,000M, 760F and 530P and is appraised Excellent-92%. She placed sixth in the National Jersey Jug Futurity in 2002.

"Gipsy" was our first Excellent-95% cow and a show ring favorite. She had one Excellent and two Very Good daughters. Many individuals in the herd today come from this maternal line, including a number of Excellents.

Senn-Sational Pioneer Edwina, a great-granddaughter, is Excellent-91% and working on her ninth lactation. She has a best record of 8-4 305 18,740 4.9% 909 3.4% 630.

In our show string this year are descendants, Senn-Sational Lemvig Gypsy, Excellent-93%, and Senn-Sational Addiction Gypsy. "Lemvig Gypsy" was the Reserve Grand Champion of the 2005 South Carolina State Fair and "Addiction Gypsy" was first-place senior calf at the same show.
